Square

A square is a 90° angle between planets that creates friction, tension, and the kind of pressure that forces you to act.

Think of a square like a pebble in your shoe. It’s irritating, it won’t let you ignore it, and you have to stop and deal with it. That’s exactly what squares do in your chart — they poke at you until you move. While trines feel like coasting downhill, squares are the uphill climb that builds muscle. They’re not “bad” aspects; they’re the ones that get stuff done. Without squares, we’d all be napping in a hammock forever. In a daily transit, a square from a planet like Mars might feel like you’re suddenly arguing with everyone or just jittery with restless energy. But that same energy, if you grab it and channel it into a project, can be incredibly productive. Squares are the universe’s cattle prod.

Example

“With Mars square your Sun today, you might feel like picking a fight — or you could use that fire to finally clean out the garage.”

How Today Astro Report uses it

When Today Astro Report spots a transiting square, it doesn’t say “bad day ahead.” Instead, it points to the specific area of life that’s feeling the pressure and offers a concrete way to work with that energy, not against it.

Common misconceptions

The biggest myth? That squares mean doom. They’re not a cosmic punishment — they’re a motivational kick. Many high-output days come with a square soundtrack.
