Opposition

Oppositions are cosmic standoffs: two planets staring each other down from opposite sides of your chart, each demanding to be heard.

Oppositions feel like you're caught in a tug-of-war with yourself—or more often, with someone else. One planet says 'go,' the other says 'stop.' You might feel torn between being independent and wanting closeness, or between pouring energy into your career versus your relationship. The tension isn't meant to break you; it's designed to stretch you. Growth comes from not picking a side, but from holding both truths at once. Think of it like a teeter-totter: you can't have the fun unless both ends are in play. Unlike squares, which are an internal itch you can't scratch, oppositions usually show up as drama with other people. Your partner, your boss, your mom—someone is playing the role of the opposite planet, and they're mirroring a part of you that needs attention.

Example

Sun opposite Moon is the Full Moon: your conscious self and your gut feelings are in a spotlight dance. Ask anyone who's made a dramatic 2am decision during a Full Moon and they'll know the vibe.

How Today Astro Report uses it

In Today Astro Report, when we say a transiting opposition is afoot, we're pointing to two areas of life that are asking to be balanced—not battled. You'll see it as a nudge to negotiate rather than to dig in your heels.

Common misconceptions

Oppositions aren't a sign you're doomed to conflict forever. They're the universe's way of saying, 'Hey, these two things? They actually need each other.'
